Yamabuki-no-Sato Historical Park
A Historic Town Surrounded by Nature: “Ogose Town”
Located in the Kawagoe-Hiki region of Saitama Prefecture, “Ogose Town” belongs to Iruma District.
Ogose Town has a diamond-like shape, bordered to the northwest by Tokigawa Town, to the northeast by Hatoyama Town, to the southwest by Hannō City, and to the southeast by Moroyama Town. The population is approximately 11,000, with around 5,000 households living here (as of December 1, 2021).
More than half of Ogose Town is covered by forests, with residential and commercial areas concentrated on the eastern side.
“Yamabuki no Sato Historical Park,” associated with the warlord Ōta Dōkan, who was active in the Kanto region during the late Muromachi period, features a picturesque waterwheel that adorns this historic park. In April and May, about 3,000 Yamabuki flowers bloom here.
Additionally, Ogose Town is famous for its “Ogose Ume Grove,” recognized as one of the top three ume groves in the Kanto region, alongside Kairakuen and Atami Baien.
The Ogose Ume Festival is held in February and March when the plum blossoms bloom, attracting many tourists.

How is the traffic situation in Ogose Town?
Ogose Station
Ogose Town: A town with many train lines and stations
Two lines, the JR Hachiko Line and the Tobu Ogose Line, run through Ogose Town, and there are two stations: Ogose Station, which is the terminus of the Tobu Ogose Line, and Bushu Karasawa Station on the Tobu Ogose Line. The access time from Ogose Station to Ikebukuro Station is about 1 hour and 10 minutes, so it cannot be said to be close to Tokyo.
There are no major national highways in the car transportation network, but Prefectural Route 30 (Hanno-Yorii Line), which runs north and south through the town, is the main road, and commercial facilities are concentrated around it.
The bus is convenient for traveling to neighboring towns and within Ogose town, and there are routes to tourist spots such as Ogose Plum Grove. As it is close to the interchange of the Kan-etsu Expressway, it is convenient not only for traveling to the city center but also to Gunma and Sogi.
The JR Hachiko Line has few trains and is inconvenient. It takes just under an hour to get to Ikebukuro, so it’s a bit far to get to the city center.
How are the rent and land prices in Ogose Town?
Ogose Town: A town where you can have your own home with a vegetable garden
According to SUUMO, the average rental price for condominiums and apartments in Iruma County, which Ogose Town belongs to, is about 64,000 yen for a 1LDK and 74,000 yen for a 2LDK. It is a relatively good deal because of the distance to the city center.
The average land price in Iruma County, which Ogose Town belongs to, is about 305,000 yen per tsubo. In well-located areas, it is about 800,000 yen or more per tsubo, so there seems to be a fair difference between places that are easy to live in and those that are not.

As part of childcare support, medical expenses for children up to the age of 18 are free. There is also a comprehensive system of childbirth allowances.
