A Town Filled with Traditional Japanese Charm: Soka City

Located in the northeastern part of Saitama Prefecture, Soka City is part of the eastern region, bordered by Koshigaya City to the north, Kawaguchi City to the west, Yashio, Yoshikawa, and Misato Cities to the east, and Adachi Ward in Tokyo to the south. It has a population of approximately 250,000 and about 121,000 households (as of November 1, 2021).

Soka City is home to the Soka Matsubara Promenade, recognized as one of Japan’s top 100 roads.
It is said that Soka was the first post town where poet Matsuo Basho stayed during his journey in “Oku no Hosomichi” (The Narrow Road to the Deep North). To commemorate 300 years since Basho’s journey, a monument was erected in Soka City.
Soka is also famous for its Soka rice crackers, and the city retains a traditional Japanese atmosphere to this day.

How is the traffic situation in Souka City?

Soka Station

Soka City is about 30 minutes away from Tokyo by train or car.

Soka City has four stations on the Tobu Isesaki Line: Yatsuka Station, Soka Station, Dokkyo University Mae Station, and Nitta Station, which run north and south along the line.
From Soka Station, it takes less than 20 minutes to get to Kita-Senju Station, and 20 minutes to get to Tokyo Skytree Station. If you transfer, it takes 26 minutes to get to Ueno Station, and 38 minutes to get to Tokyo Station, making it a convenient area for Tokyo commuters.

The main road is National Route 4, making it a convenient area for those going to Tokyo by car, and the Outer Ring Expressway is also located here, so you can easily get to Tokyo Disneyland.
